Polycom SoundStation Selection Guide

Conference rooms can vary greatly in size, shape and acoustical treatments. The following guidelines will assist you in choosing the correct audio-conferencing system for each of your applications.

The most important consideration to keep in mind is that conference participants should be 3-6 feet from a microphone regardless of room size, table shape or number of conference participants.

Small to medium sized rooms:

Room size: Up to 10 x 15 feet
No. of people: Up to 10 People
Recommendation: Polycom Soundstation2. Suits small to medium sized rooms and will accommodate up to 8-10 people in a meeting. The SoundStation2 can not be upgraded by adding extendable mics.

Medium to Large sized rooms:

Room size: Up to 30 x 30 feet.
No. of People: 20-25 people
Recommendation: Polycom SoundStation2 EX (with 2 extension mics). Suits medium to large size rooms and will accommodate up to 20-25 people in a meeting. Extendable mics can be detached to revert back to the Basic unit.

Table Shapes and Sizes for Medium to Large Rooms Rectangular L-Shaped U-Shaped, SoundStations should be placed in the centre of the table with an extended mic at each extremity.

REMEMBER: Each participant should be 3-6 foot from either the unit or the microphones.
