Plantronics Wireless FAQs - CS55
Q. What are the differences between the Plantronics CS50 and the CS55?
A. The headsets look identical and operate in the same way. However, they operate on different frequencies. The CS50 operates at 900 MHz and the CS55 operates at 1.9 GHz. The CS55 is specifically designed not to interfere with other wireless office products. Other differences are the talk and standby times. The CS50 battery provides up to 8 hours of talk time and 40 hours of standby time, while the CS55 battery provides up to 10 hours of talk time and 50 hours of standby time.
Q. How do I setup the CS55?
A. See the CS55 Interactive Setup Guide.
Q. What are the Settings on the CS55?
A. Base settings:
Microphone Transmit (How Others Hear You):
The main transmit control is the ABCD switch on the bottom of the charging base. "A" is the lowest setting, and D is the highest setting. Factory default is B. You can fine tune this setting with the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons on the back of the base.
Master Receive (How You Hear Others):
The master receive setting is the 1234 switch on the back of the charging base. The numbers are aligned in a vertical row. 1 is the highest setting, and 4 is the lowest setting. Factory default is 2. You can fine tune this setting by using the volume control on the headset. This is the black volume wheel on the back of the headset. As you rock the dial in one direction, you should hear a beep. As the beep gets higher in pitch, the volume will increase. As the beep gets lower in pitch, the volume will decrease.
Configuration:
Your configuration switch is the dial on the left side of the charging base. This is a dark grey dial with the numbers 1234. Your setting is the number that you have in the 3 o'clock position (in line with the plastic grooves). Factory default is 1. However, depending on the model of your phone, you may need to adjust this setting.
Intellistand:
The switch on the right hand side of the base activates the IntelliStand feature. When the CS55 is used in conjunction with the HL10 handset lifter you can enable the IntelliStand feature. The IntelliStand feature senses when the headset has been removed or placed into the Plantronics CS50/CS55 base unit which automatically activates the Handset Lifter and enabling headset/handset mode to answer or end the call. The IntelliStand feature is ON in bottom position [double dash] and Off in the top position [single dash].
Headset Settings:
Mute:
The black volume control wheel also doubles as a mute switch. To activate the mute feature, push the wheel straight down. The headset will beep softly in your ear every 15 seconds to indicate that your mute is on. (There is no way to disable the beeping.)
Switching from the Headset to the Hand Receiver:
The silver oval button on the headset is your “talk button”. Press this to use the headset or to transfer the call from the headset back to the hand receiver.
Q. What do the beeping sounds from the Plantronics CS55 mean?
A. (1) One beep every 10 seconds is caused by a low battery warning. Recharge the battery by returning it to the base charge cradle for one to three hours until charge light stays lit or quits blinking.
(2) Two beeps is an out of range warning. Move closer to the base unit.
(3) Three rapid beeps every 15 seconds indicates your mute is on. Press the mute control once to turn it off. When the optional HL10 or HL1 handset lifer is connected, three rapid beeps indicate a call is coming into the headset. Press the talk button on the headset to answer the call.
Q. How many CS55s can be used in one area?
A. These units can be used in high density with certain limitations. If using more than 40 units in an area, the 300 ft. range of each headset will shorten as it tries to maintain a clear signal.
Q. My CS55 battery talk time is significantly degraded, even after a full charge. What should I do?
A. You may need a replacement battery. Click here to order a new CS55 Battery.
Q. Do I need to replace the battery in my CS55?
A. If your headset does not turn on (no green light), then your battery has no charge. Place your headset on the charging base, and look for the base's amber light. If the amber light blinks, then your headset needs to charge. When the headset is fully charged, the amber light will become solid. If, after a full day, the amber light continues to blink, it may indicate a charging problem with the battery. If your headset never fully charges, or if your fully charged headset gives less than 8 hours of talk time, then your battery may need to be replaced. Click here to order a new CS55 Battery.
